We were a little concerned that the hotel only opened in July and there were unfinished aspects of the development. The hotel, seemed perfect: five star, a quiet location, short transfer times. We had wanted to visit the Azores for a while as the temperatures are not too extreme and when direct flights from Manchester to Ponta Delgado appeared we booked a package for a week in September towards the end of the season. We did not dine in the restaurant in the. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of quality meats, cheese, fruit and cooked breakfast, though more and better coffee would make the experience even better. Nevertheless, the front of house areas and rooms are of a very high standard. There are a few quirky details in the hotel such as carpet in the corridors with no ventilation (it must be difficult for the cleaners) and glazed bathroom walls.
There weather changes very quickly in the Azores. Though the mist rolling down from the hills is atmospheric. A sea view is a must as some rooms overlook the street which is disappointing in comparison to the wonderful coastal outlook. We were shown to our room, 290, which had second floor, sea view position. There reception was contemporary swish and the staff were very helpful and friendly. When we arrived there were few signs of an "Elles Belles" experience (for those who know their Carry-On films) I.E.
